Freedom Friday – No More Condemnation

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

“Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long;they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.” Matthew 23:1-7 NIV

The Pharisees and Teachers of the Law were so trapped and blinded by their pride, judgment, and condemnation that the missed the very One they were teaching others to be on the look-out for – the Messiah.

What is blinding you from the full Truth of who Christ is? Your Savior? Redeemer? Provider? Healer?

Where is there a judging spirit in you? Be careful to look closely, because the Pharisees did not see it in themselves either.

Is condemnation or self-condemnation keeping you from approaching the throne of grace? Here is how to do it: confess your wrong-doing; receive God’s forgiveness through the blood of Christ; and turn away from the wrong-doing; and do what is right.

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. Romans 8:1-2 NIV

Will you now surrender these things that hinder you? Put your trust in His ability to help you see clearly.  The blood of Christ cleanses and God the Father imparts to you the power of the Holy Spirit to direct you in your New Life.

We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NLT

Whatever it is that has been nagging at you, perhaps you are blaming others for how you feel – take responsibility today to bring it before God in prayer.  Ask Him to show you where you are responsible; confess; receive healing and the power to walk upright in your new life. The old is gone and the new has come.  Be free this Friday of those condemning thoughts of yourself or of others.  By doing so, you will honor God and the weight of this trap, lifted.
