LoveLikeLacey

It is hard to understand why a life is cut so short on earth.

But Lacey Holsworth did more living and loving in her short eight years on earth than many will do in eighty. Lacey endured cancer for two years and four months until she finally went to rest this week.  Even the announcement of her passing was filled with hope: “Princess Lacey has reached the ultimate victory. She  now dances among angels.”

Lacey loved dancing, family, adopted Big Brother Adreian Payne, and Jesus.  She had a smile wherever she went.  She loved big. She was featured several times on major TV specials and throughout the NCAA championships with Michigan State University – highlighting her special bond with MSU player Adreian Payne.  Millions of people glimpsed into this precious girl’s life and saw her radiant smile – in spite of what was happening to her body.  In spite of the pain and the fevers, Lacey took her smile, her love, and her Jesus with her everywhere she went.

The world is forever a brighter place because her smile spoke love and life into hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of lives.

Every where you turn on social media you see #LoveLikeLacey.

I cannot pretend to imagine the pain that her parents, Heather and Matt, are enduring yet it is my prayer that they take hope, and yes – even joy – as they consider that Lacey’s short life had a glorious impact on this world and the Kingdom of God.  May we all forever remember to love like Lacey.

Dear  Kim,    Your words touched my husband’s and my heart more than you’ll ever know.  Thank you.  The heartache has been like nothing we have ever experienced.  The prayers & kind thoughts of friends and well-wishers is carrying us thru this next part of the journey.   Much love Cindy
